COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP COUNCIL
The YMCA of Greenwich's Community Leadership Council brings together philanthropic and community leaders who share a commitment to strengthening our Y and the Greenwich community.
Through their insight, advocacy, generosity, and community connections, Council members help advance the Y's mission, identify opportunities for greater impact, and support programs that make a meaningful difference in the lives of local individuals and families.
Brett Hickey
Founding Chair, Community Leadership Council
A former member of the YMCA of Greenwich Board of Directors, Brett Hickey leads the establishment of the Community Leadership Council, bringing together individuals who are passionate about giving back and helping shape a stronger future for our community.
Brett is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Star Mountain Capital, a New York-based investment firm specializing in private credit, private equity, and secondary investments in the U.S. lower middle-market. With 25 years of experience in private investing and investment banking, he has built a distinguished career supporting business growth and economic development.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Brett is deeply committed to philanthropy. He is the Founder and Chairman of the Star Mountain Charitable Foundation, which supports job creation, economic development, and health and wellness initiatives. His philanthropic leadership has earned numerous honors, including the 2025 Corporate Social Responsibility Award from the Foreign Policy Association.
PRESIDENT’S LEADERSHIP COUNCIL
The YMCA of Greenwich is proud to introduce the President’s Leadership Council, a new initiative recognizing distinguished leaders whose dedication, generosity, and service have helped shape our organization. The Council honors individuals who have made a lasting impact on the Y and provides an opportunity for them to remain connected to our mission and its future.
Sandra "Sandy" Waters
Founding Member of the President's Leadership Council
A longtime champion of the YMCA of Greenwich, Sandy served on our Board of Directors for multiple terms, most recently from 2008 to 2017, including as Board Chair from 2014 to 2017. During a pivotal period in the Y's history, her leadership was instrumental in strengthening the Board, navigating significant financial challenges, and helping establish a more stable foundation for the organization's future.
Beyond the YMCA, Sandy's commitment to public service includes serving as Chair of the Greenwich Board of Education and holding leadership roles with numerous community and educational organizations.
Through her extraordinary leadership, philanthropy, and unwavering belief in the YMCA's mission, Sandy has helped shape the organization we know today. As the founding member of the President’s Leadership Council, she continues a remarkable legacy of service to the Y and the Greenwich community.
