MAKING RECESS FUN, ACTIVE, AND INCLUSIVE
The YMCA of Greenwich is thrilled to partner with Greenwich Public Schools to bring Play Everyday! Recess Support to Hamilton Avenue Elementary School. This exciting new initiative is designed for 4th and 5th graders, ensuring recess is fun, inclusive, and engaging for all students.
Play Everyday! is led by YMCA recess coaches who organize games and activities that promote movement, exercise, and social connection. The program fosters:
- Inclusivity: Ensuring every child feels welcome and included.
- Community: Building positive relationships through play.
- Wellness: Encouraging lifelong physical activity and good sportsmanship.
From January 6 to May 31, YMCA Play Everyday! coaches will visit Hamilton Avenue Elementary School for 30 minutes with 4th grade students and 30 minutes for 5th grade students.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
- Active Engagement: YMCA staff lead organized games to keep kids moving and having fun.
- Indoor Options: On rainy days, group activities are held in a classroom or other designated spaces to keep the energy going.
- Focused Time Blocks: Each grade has 30 minutes of dedicated recess activities.
