The YMCA of Greenwich is a proud provider of American Red Cross health and safety training. We offer the latest course curriculum in Lifeguarding, Water Safety Instructor, First Aid, CPR/AED (for both the Professional Rescuer and the lay responder), Connecticut Childcare, Babysitter’s Training, and more. Our course offerings are open to members and non-members.

This course teaches lifeguards the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to emergencies in non-surf open-water areas found at public parks, resorts, summer camps and campgrounds.
Participants must have a current American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid to participate in this module.
After successful completion of this module participants will receive an American Red Cross certificate for Waterfront Skills which is valid for 2 years and is only valid with a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid.

Email instructor AReeve@gwymca.org to sign up for one of the free swim evaluation dates listed below. The swim evaluation takes 30 minutes to complete.
This course trains WSI candidates to teach courses and presentations in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program by developing their understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions, and how to evaluate participants’ progress.
The courses and presentations include Parent and Child Aquatics, Preschool Aquatics, Learn-to-Swim, adult swim courses as well as the Basic Water Rescue and Personal Water Safety courses and more.
Must attend all dates and all times. No make-ups for missed times.

The American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED r.21 program is designed to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies. The course teaches participants the knowledge and skills needed to give care needed to an injured or ill person when minutes matter, and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed.
Register at least 48 hours in advance to complete the ONLINE course prior to attending the in-person skill session. Email instructor AReeve@gwymca.org to obtain the link for the ONLINE portion of the course.
