“Thanks to the YMCA’s financial assistance program, my daughter was able to attend summer camp, an experience we never thought would be possible. Her confidence, friendships, and language skills flourished. We are so grateful for the support that gave my daughter a summer she still talks about.”
-Vicki Francis, Parent of a Summer Camp Scholarship Recipient
“LIVESTRONG not only helped me stay physically strong throughout my treatment but also surrounded me with people who truly understood what it feels like to receive a life-changing diagnosis. What began as a way to stay strong during treatment became so much more—a source of healing, friendship, and hope.”
-Vanessa Trutt, Cancer Survivor & LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Participant
“Exercise helps slow the progression of Parkinson’s, and the opportunity to socialize avoids situations where people fall into depression. Between exercising and socializing, the program offers anyone with PD a great deal.”
-Sean Harrigan, Participant in our Parkinson’s Body & Mind Program
“Thank you to the YMCA of Greenwich, the other organizations and sponsors, and all of the wonderful volunteers who make Running Start possible. My daughter kept saying how much she loved the volunteer she was paired with, who was so kind to her. This program is truly such a gift, and I’m so thankful it happens every year. As the saying goes, ‘it takes a village,’ and I’m so proud to be part of this wonderful community.”
-Maria Rivas, Parent of a Child in our Running Start Program
