MAKE A LOCAL IMPACT
Founded and led by volunteers, our YMCAs thrive on the generosity and commitment of those who give their time. We welcome volunteers of all ages eager to make a difference.
Whether you’re an adult seeking to contribute to a one-time event, an ongoing project, or community service, or a student looking to fulfill class or internship requirements, the Y offers a variety of volunteer opportunities and warmly invites your participation.
The spirit of giving is at the heart of our mission. By volunteering at the Y, you become a catalyst for meaningful, lasting change in your community. You will join a team of compassionate, dedicated individuals working together to make a positive impact.
FEATURED VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: RUNNING START
Volunteering to help a local child shop for back-to-school essentials is one of the most impactful ways you can support our Running Start program. By giving your time, you’ll play a meaningful role in a child’s life—helping them start the school year with confidence and creating memories that last a lifetime.
Running Start is a program aimed at providing local school children with the opportunity to go back-to-school clothes shopping. This program is directly aligned with the YMCA of Greenwich’s commitment to nurture the potential of every child and teen.
This program serves children entering Kindergarten through 5th grade, providing them with clothing, shoes, school supplies, and backpacks so they can begin the new school year with confidence. Each child is paired with a volunteer from the community for a special night of back-to-school shopping at Kohl’s.
