The Y has partnered with Kids In Sports, a team of sports educators, who’ve created an expertly designed curriculum that is innovative, age-appropriate, and fun!
Their multi-sport program for younger children grows with your child–from adult participation to separation classes. Older children learn the fundamentals of specific team sports, and at every age your child gains important life skills like taking instruction, working in groups, and sportsmanship. These classes begin to focus children on the principles of six sports (soccer, basketball, baseball, football, volleyball, and hockey), teaching fundamentals of sports skills and general game play rules.
2 and 3 year old classes are 45 minute adult participation classes. Children engage in a variety of sports related movements during free play and structured exercises to improve their fine and gross motor skills. Throwing, catching, kicking, running, and balance are practiced in each class, with maximum success coming from work done through close supervision and encouragement of their attending adult. These skills will be centered around six sports, soccer, basketball, football, baseball, hockey and volleyball.
