The Next Wave: Teen Leadership Specialty Camps (8th - 10th Grade)
Move beyond the ordinary day camp experience. The Next Wave Teen Leadership Series invites teens to challenge themselves physically, mentally, and socially as they build confidence, independence, and real-world readiness. Designed for teens who want to grow as leaders and develop advanced skills, our Teen Specialty Camps offer themed, half-day programs centered around aquatics, fitness, resilience, outdoor challenge, and personal growth.
Each camp is enrolled on a week-to-week basis, allowing teens to choose the specialty experiences that excite them most. Whether they’re interested in aquatic safety, competitive sport, SEAL-style challenges, or environmental discovery, each week provides a distinct opportunity to explore new strengths in a supportive YMCA environment.
Teens who complete three or more sessions earn our Next Wave Certificate of Leadership, recognizing their readiness for future volunteer roles, employment opportunities, and leadership pathways within the YMCA.

Each day builds endurance and confidence, ending with a fun, supportive mini-triathlon that celebrates personal achievement.
Lifesaving & Leadership Academy (July 13–16 at the YMCA): A focused, skill-building week where teens develop real-world rescue techniques, water safety knowledge, first aid, and CPR skills. Participants practice leadership under pressure, communication, and responsibility—excellent preparation for future Red Cross lifeguard training or YMCA employment.
Expedition: SEAL-Style Team & Resilience Challenge (July 20–24 at Camp Seton): Held in the wooded terrain of Camp Seton, this adventure-driven program challenges teens through aquatic conditioning, navigation exercises, and collaborative outdoor missions. Participants strengthen teamwork, grit, and adaptive leadership as they tackle obstacles and push beyond their comfort zones.
Performance Swim & Mindset Intensive (July 27–30 at the YMCA): Designed for motivated swimmers, this intensive blends advanced technique work, endurance training, and sports psychology to help athletes reach their next level. Teens sharpen their racing strategy, refine their strokes, and build the mental discipline needed to compete with confidence and integrity.
