YMCA of Greenwich, 1st Floor Member Lounge

Learn the story behind the rainbow, brought to life by artists from our Y community. Bring your favorite breakfast baked goods to share if you'd like, and enjoy the art during our regularly scheduled member coffee.
All art will be displayed in the 1st-floor member lounge from Monday, June 23 to Monday, June 30.
The Pride Flag was created in 1978 after activist Harvey Milk asked artist Gilbert Baker to design a symbol for the LGBTQ+ community. Originally made with eight colors, the flag was later simplified to six, which remains the most recognized version today. Each color carries meaning: red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, blue for serenity, and purple for spirit.
At the Y, we provide spaces where people can authentically be themselves. When people feel seen for who they are, it builds a sense of belonging that ultimately makes our community stronger. If you would like to submit an art piece, please reach out to our Marketing Coordinator, Sarah Decossard, at sdecossard@gwymca.org no later than Tuesday, June 17.
