Celebrating Our Q2 2025 Cause Driven Leaders: Carlos Flores & Brian Dowd

Each quarter, we recognize two employees as Cause Driven Leaders—individuals who go above and beyond in their roles and truly exemplify what it means to live the Y’s mission.

What is a Cause Driven Leader?

A Cause Driven Leader is an employee who:

We are thrilled to recognize two exceptional individuals as our Q2 2025 honorees: Carlos Flores and Brian Dowd.

Carlos Flores: A True Representation of Service and Values

From the moment Carlos Flores joined the YMCA of Greenwich, his impact has been undeniable. Known for his friendly, upbeat energy, Carlos is quick to welcome, encourage, and compliment members and staff alike—making everyone feel at home the second they walk through our doors.

Beyond his daily role, Carlos has gone above and beyond to support the Y. He has donated his time to photography, helped translate for Spanish-speaking members, and stepped in to assist wherever needed. His commitment to Caring, Respect, and Responsibility shines through in all he does, whether supporting scholarship families, assisting with events like Healthy Kids Day and pancake breakfasts, or volunteering five nights in a row for the Running Start program this year.

Carlos consistently puts others first, demonstrating selflessness, compassion, and dedication. His immediate impact on our team and community reflects the very best of the Y’s mission and values. Brian Dowd: Leading with Care, Patience, and Passion

As a personal trainer, wellness associate, and boxing coach, Brian Dowd has become an essential member of the Wellness Team. While he thrives in his role as a trainer, he has also stepped up as a group exercise instructor, Parkinson’s specialist, and LIVESTRONG at the YMCA instructor—always with the same goal: helping others.

Brian is known for his calm demeanor, powerful presence, and deep sense of care. Whether working with teens in boxing, guiding adults through fitness programs, or supporting survivors through LIVESTRONG, he displays patience, respect, and empathy with every member he encounters. His commitment goes far beyond fitness—he takes responsibility for his clients’ well-being, consistently leading them to lasting improvements in health and quality of life.

Brian’s passion is pure and simple: helping people in the most thoughtful and caring way. His impact on staff, members, and participants is meaningful and lasting, and his leadership embodies everything the YMCA of Greenwich stands for.
