Izzie Nassa: July 2026 Triple-Impact Competitor® of the Month
For most athletes, success is measured by personal bests, podium finishes, or championship performances. For Izzie Nassa, success also means making a difference far beyond the pool.
This month, the YMCA of Greenwich Marlins Swim Team is proud to recognize Izzie as its Triple-Impact Competitor® of the Month after she combined leadership, compassion, and determination to make a remarkable impact on both her team and the community.
Earlier this summer, Izzie captained a Swim Across America team representing the YMCA of Greenwich, helping raise more than $25,000 to support cancer research and treatment. Her fundraising efforts brought teammates, families, and supporters together around a cause much larger than competitive swimming, demonstrating that the values learned through sport can create meaningful change.

While Izzie's accomplishments in the water are impressive, it is the way she approaches every aspect of being a teammate that earned her this recognition. She is highly respected by both her fellow swimmers and the coaching staff, consistently encouraging those around her and helping create a positive, supportive team culture. Whether celebrating a teammate's success or offering encouragement after a tough race, Izzie is someone others naturally look to for leadership.
She has also shown an exceptional ability to balance the demands of high-level swimming with a strong commitment to academics. Her discipline, maturity, and work ethic have made her a role model for younger swimmers throughout the Marlins program.
Head Coach Patrick Kennedy believes Izzie's impact reaches well beyond the lanes.
"Izzie's leadership with Swim Across America is a perfect example of what we're trying to build in this program," Kennedy said. "Competitive swimming is important, but our goal is to help young people grow into compassionate, responsible leaders. Raising more than $25,000 to fight cancer shows that Izzie understands the impact an athlete can have outside the pool, and that's every bit as meaningful as any race she swims."
The Triple-Impact Competitor® philosophy, developed by the Positive Coaching Alliance, recognizes athletes who make a positive impact in three ways: by improving themselves, lifting up their teammates, and honoring the game. Izzie exemplifies each of those qualities, but perhaps most importantly, she reminds us that the greatest victories are not always measured by a stopwatch.
Congratulations, Izzie, on being named the YMCA of Greenwich's July 2026 Triple-Impact Competitor® of the Month. Thank you for showing that the strongest athletes are often the ones making the biggest difference in the lives of others.
